Consumers are accustomed to connectivity in their everyday lives – sending text messages, talking on the phone, participating in social media or accessing internet content. At FCA, we believe the task for auto manufacturers is to account for these consumer expectations in a way that enables drivers to maintain their focus on driving.
Uconnect® allows drivers to adjust seat or cabin temperature, select a radio station, make a call, send and receive messages, obtain directions optimized for traffic conditions, and access third-party audio applications on their phones – all without taking their eyes off the road.
Remote Services: Use your phone to lock or unlock your vehicle, start the engine before leaving the office for the day or, in an emergency, activate a panic alarm remotely.
Stolen Vehicle Location Assistance: Has your car been stolen? Use the GPS data-sending capability to help authorities find it.
Uconnect Voice Command: You won’t have to take your hands off the wheel nor your eyes off the road to give your navigation system a new destination, access real-time information, and use your Bluetooth-enabled phone.
Apple CarPlay: It takes the things you want to do with your iPhone while driving and puts them right on your car’s built-in display. You can place a call, listen to music, send and receive messages, obtain directions optimized for traffic conditions and access third-party audio apps on your iPhone, all while staying focused on the road.
Android Auto: With your Android phone, you can now access the best of Google while driving. The system features Google Maps with free voice-guided navigation; live traffic information and lane guidance; on-demand access to 30 million songs with Google Play Music. And, of course, you can place a phone call, send and receive messages and ask Google Search any question while keeping your hands on the wheel.
Eco:Drive: Does your driving style waste fuel? With the FCA software system, available on selected models in the EMEA region, you can get personalized tips that may help you to intervene on your driving style also in order to reduce your vehicle’s fuel consumption and emissions. More than 110,000 new activations were registered in 2017.
Efficiency Coach: The new Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid offers an “efficiency coach” – a display that guides you to drive more efficiently and maximize the time spent in battery mode. It also offers suggestions on how to optimize energy consumption while accelerating, and provides guidance on stopping to take full advantage of the regenerative braking that contributes to charging the battery.
We already have various solutions and connected vehicles in the market. In order to globalize and fully deploy the current technology and the services we provide, we are working towards a new standardized solution.
Via a Telematics Box Module our cars will be able to connect to the Internet and to an FCA-specific Service Delivery Platform, which is cloud-based and is designed to:
be scalable and flexible to support service portfolio and technology evolution,
guarantee maximum cyber security,
easily integrate & interface with any service provider.
We will launch this new system in April 2019 and by 2022 all our new vehicles leaving the production lines can be connected.
