Components and Production Systems
The Prototype department at FCA’s Product Development center of excellence in Turin used Additive Manufacturing technology to create the grille for the new Alfa Romeo Giulia – a project developed in collaboration with the FCA Style Center.
In Additive Manufacturing, 3D printers create an object by laying down successive layers of a material (thermoplastics, metals, resin and other materials) based on a three-dimensional computer model (Computer Aided Design).
This technology delivers exceptional results in terms of time, precision and environmental impacts. In fact, it reduces the environmental impact of producing prototypes and the final product, by reducing raw materials and energy consumption. The flexibility and speed also mean inventory space can be reduced.
The harmonious interaction between people, technology, innovation and the Environment all contribute to making the Cassino assembly plant a model of world-class excellence.
