Responsible production

Our awareness that each production activity may impact the environment motivate us to act conscientiously and responsibly.

This means that in addition to planning and creating environmentally friendly vehicles, we strive to minimize emissions from our plants and optimize production processes.
Our Environmental Guidelines apply to all plants and offices, and define best practices for reducing waste and optimizing water and energy consumption. Together with the Environmental Management System which has been introduced at all plants worldwide, they reflect our commitment to being a responsible environmental steward.

In addition, we have been progressively expanding extended application to all plants of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) to our plants. WCM is a structured, rigorous and integrated methodology designed to continuously improve the performance of production processes through the achievement of four key objectives: zero accidents, zero waste, zero breakdowns and zero inventory.

Monitoring environmental performance

Contributing to fighting climate change is one of the most complex global challenges that we are facing as a global automaker.

To this end, we reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions at our plants. We have adopted an Energy Action Plan that promotes the application of eco-sustainable solutions — from reduction of energy consumption to using renewable resources.

Because water is among the most precious natural resources on earth we have adopted Guidelines for Water Management at all of our plants. This document illustrates the technology and actions that help maximize water recycling and reuse, and reduce the discharge of pollutants to the greatest extent possible. Moreover, we regularly update the map of water availability in the geographic areas where we operate in order to optimize its use and reduce the risk of scarcity.

We are committed to limiting waste generation.

In all of our industrial processes, we strive to recover, recycle and reuse materials. Anything that can't be reused is recycled. When the waste generated cannot be recycled or reused, it is disposed of through technologies with a minimal environmental impact. These principles are included in our Waste Management Guidelines, which are in applied at all of our plants around the world.

We optimize transport flows and processes to make them increasingly sustainable.

Our logistics flow management combines maximum efficiency with a minimal environmental footprint in moving materials, components and vehicles along the distribution chain. To achieve these objectives, we seek to use low-emission transport when moving goods and vehicles, to adopt intermodal solutions and to create maximum load efficiency. In addition, we limit the use of packaging and protection materials and utilize recyclable containers wherever possible.
