FCA embraces our responsibility to contribute constructively to the greater community. To support our belief that we can be an agent of positive change, FCA promotes a varied range of initiatives: activities to support community development, education, the environment, basic social needs, and victims of natural disasters.
Every season throughout the year offers opportunities and inspiration for FCA employees to give back to their local communities.
During the recent Holiday season, for example, FCA and its employees around the world participated in a wide range of charitable activities. These activities focused on bringing joy to the vulnerable and the less fortunate, and demonstrate FCA’s commitment to helping those in need. Here is a sampling of some of our projects:
Canada, employees from the Windsor Assembly Plant have been participating in the “Sparky’s Toy Drive” program for more than 15 years. The program, organized by the Windsor Fire and Rescue Services department, collects and delivers new toys to more than 3,000 children in need across the local community.
This year, plant employees filled eight Chrysler Pacifica minivans dressed up as reindeer with gifts, and volunteered their time for the delivery of the toys.
In Brazil, this year in Betim for the first time, FCA employees sponsored the “Papai Noel dos Correios” initiative, introducing a special “post office” inside the plant. Thanks to this initiative, Brazilian children had many of their Christmas wishes fulfilled.
The letters received in these special post offices were adopted by thousands of “Santas,” who worked to buy the desired gifts and deliver to the children’s homes. The FCA plant employees granted all the wishes expressed in the Christmas letters received in 2017.
In Italy, employees, family members, and friends took part in a charitable event for the third year in a row. In collaboration with Sisport, which hosted the event in its Turin branch, participants had the opportunity to compete in 7 different sporting events in a “Solidarity Olympics.” The money raised during this special evening was entirely donated to the “Associazione Casa Nostra di Torino” which offers support to children and mothers in need.
In Australia, the FCA dealer network was the starting point for the collection of gifts to be donated to children and families in need. Dealership employees made themselves available for the packaging and delivery toys and books, with management individuals also taking part in the initiative.
The end of 2017 also brought some special FCA moments for the families of employees. Two examples, among many, were the “Natale Bimbi 2017” and “Family Day, Speciale Natale 2017” activities in Italy and Brazil, respectively. During these events which each lasted 2 days, FCA took on Santa’s job. Employees’ sons and daughters received a gift from the Group and had the possibility to participate in various recreational and educational activities, and in some instances had the chance to explore their parents’ work environment. “Natale Bimbi 2017” also hosted three different workshops on environmental sustainability, providing the opportunity to remind participants how we can behave sustainably on a daily basis and how every day FCA works to become even more sustainable.
The Holidays are over, but somewhere in the world there are FCA employees continuing to volunteer their time in a variety of activities that are intended to generate local development, meet the needs of the various stakeholders, and encourage employees to work alongside community members.
This story highlights concrete evidence of FCA’s sustainability commitment and its alignment with the principles of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the following Sustainable Development Goals:
