Exhibition sponsored by Fiat celebrates the creations of Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci and the bold Cronos HGT as the "official car"

November 29, 2019 - Scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, botanist, poet and musician. This impressive list of skills is still shy of defining the importance of Italian master Leonardo da Vinci (1452 – 1519). Representative of the Renaissance, he carried at his core the incessant search for innovation. In the year marking the 500th anniversary of his death, Da Vinci is the subject of a modern exhibition that inaugurates the MIS Experience, a new cultural space that belongs to the Government of the State of São Paulo, managed by the Museum of Image and Sound, in São Paulo (SP, Brazil). The exhibit Leonardo da Vinci – 500 Years of a Genius is sponsored by Fiat and is on display until March 1, 2020.

Crowning the support for the exhibition, which celebrates the life and work of one of humanity's most revolutionary inventors, Fiat highlighted the Cronos HGT sedan as the show's "official car". Like the honoree's work, the model combines the search for beauty and a taste for innovation. "Fiat, by nature, is modern, vibrant and bold. For us, the association with this innovative Exhibition at MIS is consistent with the profile of our brand", said Antonio Filosa, president of the FCA for Latin America.

Under its genuinely Italian DNA lines, the Fiat Cronos HGT brings high-tech items, pleasing those seeking beauty, comfort, refinement and practicality. Equipment such as colorful 7" high-resolution instrument frame, digital automatic air conditioning, HGT’s special fabric upholstering, roof and internal details in black, embroidered rugs and fiat logos darkened on the steering wheel and key are striking characteristics of the model.

Immersive Experience

The outstanding feature of the exhibit Leonardo da Vinci – 500 Years of a Genius, conceived by Bruce Peterson of The Great Exhibitions – a Melbourne based company – is the appeal to the senses. Large projections, which use the floor and walls of the immense 2,400 m² shed that houses the MIS Experience, place the visitor at the center of the master's anthological works, such as The Last Supper. Explanatory audios, more than 70 project replicas – which include a vertical flying machine, a steam cannon, a catapult and a portable piano – and facsimiles of Leonardo's codices and his studies of anatomy complete the multisensory experience.

The final stretch of the exhibition is dedicated to the analysis of the MonaLisa, his most famous painting. Conceived by Pascal Cotte, engineer, photographer and consultant at the Louvre Museum in Paris (home to the original work), the segment presents 25 secrets of the painting, which detail changes in the aspect of pigments, restoration attempts and minor changes in the shape of the eyes and face caused by time.

Considered the most complete investigation into the work of Leonardo da Vinci, the show is distributed in 18 thematic areas that take you through his inventions and artistic creations, successfully exploring the ample space offered by MIS Experience.

"This MIS Experience is not only a new cultural space in the city of São Paulo, but a proposal that will modify the meaning of what an art exhibition is about. This model will lead the public to a deep understanding of the genius Leonardo da Vinci, of his work and importance to humanity. And this was only possible thanks to the joint effort of the state government and companies that, like Fiat, believed in this project and made it a reality"," says Marcos Mendonça, general director of MIS.

The exhibit Leonardo da Vinci – 500 Years of a Genius is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 8pm. Admission is R$ 30 and is free on Tuesdays. MIS Experience is located at Rua Vladimir Herzog, 75, in the neighborhood of Água Branca, São Paulo (SP).
